Quote of the day

I've seen some people do these on their blogs and thought I really should to. Kids say the funniest things some times! Like Owen today (out of the blue)-
"I want to be a girl like Bree (a girl about his age in our ward)"
Me- "Why?"
Owen- "Because nothing." (a favorite response of his!)

Pi Day!

So yesterday was Pi Day! If anyone is looking for some family traditions to start, I would really recommend this one. It doesn't require much thought- just making and eating pie! March 14, or 3/14 is going to be a tradition in our house. Matthew loved learning about the number pi (3.14....) And he really like the play on words (pi and pie), but mostly they all just liked eating pie! Who doesn't? Hooray for pi (or should I say pie?) day!

Andrew's Bday #4

Andrew had a great birthday. He doesn't have school on Mondays so he got to do whatever he wanted all day long. He opened one present in the morning- he picked the pack from Aunt Jenny which had two leapster games. He was pumped. We all went to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. Then we went to the grocery store where he picked what he wanted for cake and icecream. Owen, Andrew, and I then went to walmart to let him play with the toys and he got to pick whatever book he wanted- a Dora story. Later we went to the library where he picked a movie. During Owen's nap he got to play games and watch his movie. Then we went to Chuck E. Cheese for dinner and games. He got whatever he wanted there- Thank you Nana for Chuck E. Cheese. He ate almost the entire cinnamon sticks for his dinner and played lots of games. We came home for presents, cake, and icecream. He got a wii game (Spyro) from us and a couple pokemon toys from his brothers. Of course there was a card with a dollar from the greats. He had so much fun all day.

The really funny thing is how excited he gets. He is by far our most anticipatory child. He gets excited for days before hand and can't wait. Then all day on his birthday he kept asking me to sing him the happy birthday song. He'd also say, "Hey mom, say 'Andrew it's your birthday!'" To which I would say, "Hey Andrew! It's your birthday!" And he would have this super cheesy grin. He loved it. He loved getting to do whatever he wanted all day. I'm guessing he will be our really early riser on Christmas. He just gets so excited. Well, Happy BDay Drew- you are a great kid!

Too much house work

Today in church the kids filled out a paper about their mom. Andrew's really made me laugh- and realize that I have been spending too many hours on the house! Andrew wrote-
I especially appreciate the way you PAINT WALLS. He also wrote I love it when you cook GOOD FOOD. Thanks for teaching me TO EARN MINUTES (to play games or watch TV).
Matthew's wasn't as funny, but he wrote I especially appreciate the way you HILP ME (help me). I love it when you cook PANKAKS (pancakes). Thanks for teaching me TO TOK (to talk).

In other house news, we've had a couple showings and a couple decent open houses. It is super hard to keep our house clean all the time. And for those who are interested, we will be holding a special fast next Sunday- along with the other families trying to sell their homes. We can use all the help we can get. I think it would be great if all of us could sell!

Charades- part of the fun!

All the girls!

This was definitely a night to remember. For those of you who don't know who Marcia McClure is- she is an author who writes clean loves stories that have some serious chemistry in them. They are a totally easy read (just take a couple hours) that are always fun. My friends pass around the books and talk about the characters frequently in conversation. Tia has been a driving force behind the Marcia craze- she's the one with all the books- whom we call at all hours to grab one. She decided to throw a Marcia party. There was required reading and book assignments. The party was black, silver, and pink colors with a love/kissing theme. It was really unbelievable. Everything was so thought out. Every little prize and gift was personalized. Fresh flowers and petals were everywhere. There was yummy dinner and desserts. She even had a made a movie for after the games. What can I say? I felt totally pampered and spoiled! It was such a blast spending time with all the girls in such an breathtaking environment. All the hours she put in created a really special celebration that blew me away. I tell you one thing- if I ever plan a REAL party, I'm calling Tia. She thinks of everything!

A dog nap

Anubis has improved exponentially since we got him as a puppy. He is now out all the time- even when we are gone for hours at a time. He is really well behaved on his own. (We still have issues with him all over people that come over.) Every now and then he does try to take a nap on the couch, which he isn't allowed on, but overall he is doing really well. If he ever does try to sneak on the couch, I hear him jump off when he hears me coming, but this day he was deep in doggy dream land...

VDay 2009

Valentine's Day once again. I made a breakfast of heart eggs and heart hashbrowns for everyone. I of course had to get them some candy as well. Matt got the boys mariokart on wii, which has received much play time since. I did the dinner this year. The menu included a broccoli and cheese soup, almond-lemon-chicken patte, fresh basil-tomato-mozzerella salad, green beans, garlic-sour cream mashed potatoes, and filet mignon. It was all edible! Matt got me a Dyson! Seriously a DC25, aka The Animal. It is amazing. It will be a huge help in keeping the house clean while we are trying to sell it. Overall an awesome day!

stitches

We went into the ER a couple sunday's ago for Matthew's second round of stitches. Like I said, it has been a crazy month. Last time he was jumping on a bed in Austria when he was one. This time Owen through a toy guitar at his face. He was really good and wasn't scared at all. They gave him some great numbing stuff so it didn't hurt at all. (Much better than when I had to hold him down in Austria.) It was pretty wide, but short. In the end he only needed two stitches to put his face back together. His daddy took them out at home a few days later!

A leak?

It has been a crazy month getting ready to move. We've had a few set backs. Including the day I came home from the gym to find water streaming down the walls of our breakfast nook. It is below our upstairs bathroom so I turned off the water to the house and waited a day for a plumber to make it out and take down our leaking ceiling, just to tell us that it wasn't a pipe. Apparently we had an ice build up and it was streaming down the side of the brick walls and into this little extension. We did get our home insurance to help pay for the damage and thanks to our generous friends, we probably made a little money in the end (friends had left over dry wall, tape, plaster, etc). Thanks to our friends for helping us put it back together so we could get our house on the market (albeit a week later!)

Matt's bday

So, we just got our house on the market this week and so I finally have a second to catch up on old posts. Matt's bday this year was kinda low-key (that happens when it is on a sunday). The day before I surprised him with a massage and by trying to take him out to eat to an ethiopian place. He didn't want to eat at the place when we got there so we went to Little Italy instead to this other place we like- La Dolce Vita. On Sunday we had a little party. The kids got him the batman dvds. He already got his present from his mom and me- a new snowboard and bindings. It think it was a good weekend. Happy 29!
