All the girls!

This was definitely a night to remember. For those of you who don't know who Marcia McClure is- she is an author who writes clean loves stories that have some serious chemistry in them. They are a totally easy read (just take a couple hours) that are always fun. My friends pass around the books and talk about the characters frequently in conversation. Tia has been a driving force behind the Marcia craze- she's the one with all the books- whom we call at all hours to grab one. She decided to throw a Marcia party. There was required reading and book assignments. The party was black, silver, and pink colors with a love/kissing theme. It was really unbelievable. Everything was so thought out. Every little prize and gift was personalized. Fresh flowers and petals were everywhere. There was yummy dinner and desserts. She even had a made a movie for after the games. What can I say? I felt totally pampered and spoiled! It was such a blast spending time with all the girls in such an breathtaking environment. All the hours she put in created a really special celebration that blew me away. I tell you one thing- if I ever plan a REAL party, I'm calling Tia. She thinks of everything!

A dog nap

Anubis has improved exponentially since we got him as a puppy. He is now out all the time- even when we are gone for hours at a time. He is really well behaved on his own. (We still have issues with him all over people that come over.) Every now and then he does try to take a nap on the couch, which he isn't allowed on, but overall he is doing really well. If he ever does try to sneak on the couch, I hear him jump off when he hears me coming, but this day he was deep in doggy dream land...

VDay 2009

Valentine's Day once again. I made a breakfast of heart eggs and heart hashbrowns for everyone. I of course had to get them some candy as well. Matt got the boys mariokart on wii, which has received much play time since. I did the dinner this year. The menu included a broccoli and cheese soup, almond-lemon-chicken patte, fresh basil-tomato-mozzerella salad, green beans, garlic-sour cream mashed potatoes, and filet mignon. It was all edible! Matt got me a Dyson! Seriously a DC25, aka The Animal. It is amazing. It will be a huge help in keeping the house clean while we are trying to sell it. Overall an awesome day!

stitches

We went into the ER a couple sunday's ago for Matthew's second round of stitches. Like I said, it has been a crazy month. Last time he was jumping on a bed in Austria when he was one. This time Owen through a toy guitar at his face. He was really good and wasn't scared at all. They gave him some great numbing stuff so it didn't hurt at all. (Much better than when I had to hold him down in Austria.) It was pretty wide, but short. In the end he only needed two stitches to put his face back together. His daddy took them out at home a few days later!

A leak?

It has been a crazy month getting ready to move. We've had a few set backs. Including the day I came home from the gym to find water streaming down the walls of our breakfast nook. It is below our upstairs bathroom so I turned off the water to the house and waited a day for a plumber to make it out and take down our leaking ceiling, just to tell us that it wasn't a pipe. Apparently we had an ice build up and it was streaming down the side of the brick walls and into this little extension. We did get our home insurance to help pay for the damage and thanks to our generous friends, we probably made a little money in the end (friends had left over dry wall, tape, plaster, etc). Thanks to our friends for helping us put it back together so we could get our house on the market (albeit a week later!)

Matt's bday

So, we just got our house on the market this week and so I finally have a second to catch up on old posts. Matt's bday this year was kinda low-key (that happens when it is on a sunday). The day before I surprised him with a massage and by trying to take him out to eat to an ethiopian place. He didn't want to eat at the place when we got there so we went to Little Italy instead to this other place we like- La Dolce Vita. On Sunday we had a little party. The kids got him the batman dvds. He already got his present from his mom and me- a new snowboard and bindings. It think it was a good weekend. Happy 29!

25 random things

So a few people tagged me to do this. I'm avoiding house work so here I go.
1. I LOVE movies- as long as they end well. I hate any movie with a sad ending.
2. I play with tape- really random I know.
3. I'm the only girl in my house. I have 3 boys, a husband, and even a boy dog.
4. I LOVE my karate class. I must have a lot of pent up aggression because hitting and kicking things is so fulfilling! I've secretly been hoping that I get to try it out for real on someone...
5. I married my best friend from high school.
6. We were only engaged for like 2 months before we got married.
7. I love high adrenaline activities. I've been skydiving, rock climbing, repelling, surfing, free climbing, cliff diving, white water rafting, you get the idea. I'll try almost anything. Well, at least I'd like to. Matt doesn't let me do the really fun stuff now that I'm a mom.
8. I'm writing a book. In theory anyway. Sometimes I won't write for months, but I still think about it.
9. We are moving to Nashville, TN in May after Matt is done with dental school so he can do an orthodontic residency.
10. I get really bad second hand embarrassment for people- I can't even watch american idol when those people are awful.
11. I'm not very girly. I'm not into flowers or surprises or jewelry or other stuff like that. Matt remembers important dates and past events way better than me. II don't like drama or gossip. But I do like shoes- the higher the heels the better!
12. I'm learning how to sew. In the last two weeks I've sewn new curtains, a levi quilt and matching pillow for Owen, a some other decorative accents. Just call me Martha, baby!
13. I always weigh the same (excluding pregnancies).
14. I painted the pictures up in our house (we have no money and I figured how hard could it be?)
15. I'm really gonna miss my friends from Cleveland. They've taught me soooo much!
16. I eat dessert everyday- usually more than once.
17. I love to cook, I hate to clean up.
18. I love to do stuff for other people. I watch friends kids, take dinner to people, volunteer, etc, multiple times a week. It just makes me feel like a contributing member of society.
19. I really like to know how to do things. I've learned how to be a lot more handy in the last few years. We are in an older home and we've done a lot of work on things. Next week we are redoing a ceiling (drywalling, etc). Yesterday I changed a headlight and toped off Matt's fluids while he was studying for boards.
20. I have an idea book. I'm always getting ideas about everything. Business ideas, book ideas, save the world ideas. They all go into the book. I hope I'll get around to all of them!
21. I'm secretly proud that my son is the best burper I've every heard.
22. We travel a lot.
23. I'm really going to miss cleveland- seriously.
24. I get along superwell with my in-laws. I'm as close to them as I am to my own family. I'm really lucky.
25. I'm married to the best-looking, smartest, funniest guy I know- so that worked out pretty well!
